Caleb Brett is one of the divisions of Intertek.
The story of its foundation began in London over a century ago. In 1885, during a time of great malpractice in the shipping history, Caleb Brett founded a marine surveying business to test and certify independently the quantity, quality, and description of ships' cargoes being loaded or discharged. Today our international expertise includes professional services for the Petroleum, Petrochemical and Environmental industries. Specific services include Outsourcing, Analytical Testing, Quality Control, and Custody Transfer Surveying, Auditing, Web enabled Systems and more. Through continual investment in people, technology, facilities and equipment, Caleb-Brett works in partnership with clients to meet the challenges of tomorrow. In particular, over the last few years our company has invested considerable funds in the Former Soviet Union enhancing its technical capabilities and expertise in the Caspian and Black Sea region. We have developed a network of offices and laboratories at strategic sites in the region, in the oil and gas concerned countries of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georagia.
Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan Caleb Brett is located at the key sites of Atyrau, Aktau and Tengiz. We are inspecting shore tanks and rail tank cars in Aksai, Uralsk, Kyzylorda, Atyrau and Tengiz, as well as carrying out the inspection of metering stations for the CPC from Tengiz to Novorossiysk
Turkmenistan
We are developing our work in Turkmenistan, by expanding our testing capability in Turkmenbashi, whilst we are carrying out full inspection services not only at Turkmenbashi but also at Alaja, Okarem, Seidi, Chargo and Nebitdag.

In Azerbaijan Caleb Brett has offices and laboratories in strategically important locations which are follows:

Sangachal Terminal
The state of the art laboratory in Baku complements Caleb Brett's existing activities in the Caspian region and is augmented by vessel/RTC inspection which focuses on prompt and accurate service. The laboratory is GOST certified with ISO 9001 certification in process and is fully equipped for analysis of crude oil, petroleum (including RON and MON), petrochemical products, LPG and LNG and water (produced water in addition to drinking water).
The Caleb Brett Baku Central Laboratory's most recent successful development is its purpose built dedicated Water Laboratory with the latest technology for water quality and biological testing.
In the light of the above we are delighted that we have been able to attract more and more customers who wish to benefit from the ever expanding range of services that Caleb Brett offer.
Georgia
Due to the rapid expansion of the Caspian region's oilfields, the related development of a suitable major commercial oil transportation system has become a priority. Georgia's geographical position has made it a key link in the export chain from the vast oil resources of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to world markets and the Georgian Ports of Batumi, Supsa and Poti have become a strategic gateway from the Caucasus and Central Asia to the west.
Since the mid nineties Caleb Brett has recognised this strategic importance and established its first site in Batumi to provide inspection and testing services for both Batumi and Supsa. To demonstrate our long term commitment to Georgia we have expanded operations and made a substantial investment in the construction of a brand new purpose-built laboratory facility at the port of Poti which has just been completed in January 2003.
Due to its strategic location this new world class Laboratory and Operations Centre has been designed to serve all the testing requirements of the Georgian Black Sea region. The building is state-of-the-art and is one of the leading independent testing facilities in the whole of the region. The laboratory is fully equipped in order to operate to the highest international standards to test crude oil, petroleum, petrochemical products, LPG and LNG and water (sea water as well as drinking water). To complement the laboratory, Caleb Brett has also invested in qualified, highly trained technical staff. Such a high degree of professionalism is also evident in our inspection and survey team, operational and support staff, who are focused on prompt service and clear, accurate, fast communication with clients. GOST, ASTM, API, IP and other recognised standard test methodologies and sampling procedures are fully complied with. The services of the Caleb Brett Poti Central operation comprise two main aspects:

Quality Designed for Quality Results:
The laboratory comprises specifically designed areas for Gas Chromatography, light and black products, spectroscopy and a specifically designed incoming sample registration room. All laboratory systems meet stringent internal and external safety, quality and performance standards. A separate building houses the new temperature controlled sample retention and reagent store.
