Due to the rapid expansion of the Caspian region's oilfields, the related development of a suitable major commercial oil transportation system has become a priority. Each of the Caspian countries constitutes a key link in the export chain from the vast oil resources of the region through to world markets.

Recognising the strategic importance of the region Intertek Caleb Brett has expanded operations and made substantial investment not only in construction of a number of new purpose-built laboratories at different strategic locations, but also in qualified highly trained stuff. In Kazakhstan Intertek Caleb Brett is located at the key sites of Atyrau, Aktau and Tengiz. We are inspecting shore tanks and rail cars in Aksai, Uralsk, Kyzilorda, Shymkent and Tengiz, as well as carrying out the inspection of metering stations for CPC from Tengiz to Novorossiysk. We are also undertaking the construction of a new laboratory in Atyrau. That facility will provide greatly expanded crude oil quality bank testing, environmental analyses, as well as routine oil, gas and products testing.

Our operation is also growing in other countries of the region.

In Turkmenistan we have built a new fully equipped laboratory in Turkmenbashi and are carrying out inspection services not only in Turkmenbashi, but also at Aladja, Okarem, Seidi and Nebitdag.

Azerbaijan is the regional hub for the transhipment of oil and oil products, as well as exporting its own production, and as a direct result Intertek Caleb Brett has established its headquarters and coordination centre in Baku. We also have additional offices and laboratories in strategically important locations of the country.

Georgia's geographical position has made it a key link in the export chain from the vast oil resources of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Dagestan and Turkmenistan to world markets and the Georgian Ports of Batumi, Supsa and Poti have become a strategic gateway from the Caucasus and Central Asia to the west.
