PANALPINA IN CENTRAL ASIA
2004 was a landmark anniversary for Panalpina globally. The foundation stone for the establishment of Panalpina, now one of the world's leading forwarding and logistics groups, was laid in May 1954, when a number of firms belonging to the Schweizerische Reederei were brought together under one roof.
Although some of them had roots going back to the 19th century, the most crucial developments contribution to the strength if the company's position today took place after 1954.
The commitment and team spirit of our employees all over the world have been major contributors to our success during these 50 years. Certain characteristics have always been typical of Panalpina, and they remain so today: innovation - the courage to be unconventional - blazing new trails - the pioneering spirit - the ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to new circumstances.
Effective April 2004 Panalpina Acquired Scottish forwarding company Grampian International Freight, which is active in oil and gas business. This brings together two companies with strong positions in their respective fields - and with the same business philosophies. Buying Grampian has secured our leading position in the oil and gas sector and greatly enhanced our potential in the growth markets of the Caspian Sea and North Africa.

1995: Opening of the Halzan LLP / agent of Panalpina World Transport
1996: Opening of Representative Office in Baku
1998: Registration of Panalpina World Transport as fully operational company in Azerbaijan
1998: Registration of Panalpina Gulf LLC (Turkmenistan) with branch offices in Turkmenbashi and Ashgabat
2001: Registration of Panalpina World Transport LLP in Kazakhstan
2002: Uniting of ex Panalpina Central Asia countries with Panalpina Kazakhstan and creation of Panalpina Central Asia Area
2003: Registration of Panalpina Central Asia E.C in Bahrain
2003: Re registration of companies in Azerbaijan as subsidiary / branch Panalpina Central Asia EC Bahrain
2003: Registration of Panalpina Central Asia in Poti / Georgia
With its headquarters in Baku and offices in Poti, Almaty, Kyzylorda, Aktau, Atyrau, Aktobe, Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi and Balkanabat, Panalpina Central Asia has successfully served Caspian market since 1995 with effective transport and logistics solutions. Panalpina Central Asia's objective is to become an expert on each of our client's needs and requirements. Supply Chain Management
As a leading logistics provider to importers and exporters, we offer consulting, planning and implementation services. We operate warehouse facilities in most of our Business Units. Handling and distribution is part of our local Supply Chain Management Solutions.
