ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES OF SDL IN AZERBAIJAN
SDL was established in Baku, Azerbaijan in April 2002 in recognition of the continuing commitment of the Azerbaijan Government to the development of the exploration, construction, production and transmission infrastructure to support the emerging oil & gas industry in the Caspian Region.
SDL’s core business in Baku centres on the provision of a range of support services to the emerging oil & gas exploration and production industry both onshore and offshore in Azerbaijan. SDL’s particular expertise and experience in the Caspian Region lies in the fabrication and installation of structural steelwork; pipework systems including high pressure flow lines; vessels; tanks and related equipment packages.
SDL renders the following services:
• Structural steel, flow lines and high pressure pipework systems are routinely and regularly fabricated, in carbon steel, heavy wall carbon steel, duplex and super duplex materials.
• Fabricate low pressure pipework systems using glass reinforced epoxy plastic materials has been developed and output of GREP products is rising substantially
• Surface preparation and coating application.
• Dimensional Control and Laser Surveys.
• Non-destructive testing.
• Provision of Third Country Nationals, Labour Resources.
• Architectural fit out and upgrades to offshore accommodation and office modules.
• Regional distributor for A&N Plant, hiring welding and pipe manipulating plant.
• Regional Stockist for Murray International Metals for the supply of Internationally certified structural steel materials.
SDL has consistently provided fabrication and installation services to the operators of the existing offshore production facilities, the onshore receiving terminal at Sangachal, the Baku/Tbilisi/Supsa pipeline including the pumping and pressure reduction stations in both Azerbaijan and Georgia and the receiving and export facility at Supsa, Georgia.
SDL’s Baku fabrication and assembly shop, stores, covered and open storage is situated within an industrial complex to the north east of the city centre with excellent road communications. The scope for expansion within the site is virtually unlimited.
The SDL fabrication facility comprises 5 bays of a large factory unit total of 15,000 m2 fully serviced with overhead traveling cranes. The integral NDE area, pressure testing bay and blasting and coating facility ensures a seamless progression of work through the facility to the despatch point.
The shop is fully fitted out with SDL owned and operated fabrication plant & equipment and employs a high proportion of Azeri nationals under UK expatriate management and supervision. Investment contiues in the acquisition of plant & equipment resources in line with the business improvement plan, as does the ongoing safety and trade training of the workforce.
Special attention has been paid to the provision of a high standard of welfare facilities within the facility.
SDL are independently accredited by DET NORSKE Veritas to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
