BENQ IS MORE THAN JUST A NAME!


The office of BenQ Corporation was opened in Azerbaijan on October 1, 2005 as a result of merging between BenQ Corporation and Siemens Mobile subsidiary company operated by Siemens Corporation. Leyla Nasrullayeva runs the office of BenQ Corporation in Azerbaijan.

The scope of activity of BenQ Corporation includes system, digital and network production such as mobile phones, LCD TV screens, MP-3 tape-recorders, digital cameras, projectors and optical devices.

Acquiring of Siemens subdivision on mobile phone production allowed BenQ hold the fourth position in the world at the mobile phones market and increase overall annual income up to 10,9 billion USD.

The given purchase is based on the partnership between two complementary companies. Siemens subdivision brought over 20 years of experience in the management field, researches and design, qualified personnel and worldwide organization system in addition to strong features of BenQ such as well-run structured and economically cost-effective production, leading positions in production of multimedia devices and clear understanding of the situation at the consumers market.

Merging of two companies resulted in becoming a largest intellectual property owner at the market of mobile devices. BenQ obtained admittance to the wide portfolio of intellectual property of Siemens Company including the patents on GSM, GPRS and 3G. Thus, the intellectual property turned to be one more competitive advantage of the company to reach leading positions at the mobile traders market.

BenQ Mobile is a leader at the market of consumer-oriented wireless communication devices. The Company headquartered in Munich (Germany) is one of the three business subdivisions of BenQ Corporation and a license holder of Siemens brand name. In 2004 fiscal year the company earned 5,6 billion USD (total income of subdivisions of BenQ Mobile Phones and Siemens Mobile Devices). During CeBIT 2006 Exhibition held in the first decade of March in Hanover Gannover (Germany) BenQ Mobile Corporation announced a number of new mobile phones. First of all, it is necessary to mention 240x320-pixel multimedia communicator BenQ-Siemens P51 outfitted with a miniature keyboard and large LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) with a 2,83-inch diagonal and a standard layout. The built-in wireless communication controller Wi-Fi (IEEE 820.11b/g standards) allows using the device for working with IP-telephony services. Besides, the device has the Bluetooth controller and GPS.

The smartphone BenQ-Siemens P51 is equipped with a slot for Secure Digital flash memory cards. It is possible to use SDIO peripherals such as __-tuners. The built-in 1,3-megapixel camera can take photos with resolution of up to 1280 _ 1024 pixels and record video-clips. In addition P51 supports MP3, AAC, AAC+ formats to reproduce music files and H264 and MPEG4 formats to reproduce video-clips, the device is also equipped with USB port to connect a computer. P51 will come into the market in July 2006. As for the price, it is not announced yet.

Besides P51, BenQ-Siemens Company offered five more models EL71, C81, CF61, CL71 and E61. All these phones are equipped with multicolor displays, support MP3 format and volumetric sound. The mobile phones will be equipped with Google software to work with online international retrieval systems.

During 3GSM Worldwide Congress held on February 16 in Barcelona (Spain) BenQ-Siemens Company presented three new mobile phones S81, EF51 and EF91.

As the producer claims, S81 is one of the thinnest models at the market, which supports work within 3G networks UMTS. The thickness of the hull is only 13 millimeters. In addition the phone has developed multimedia potential. Besides the 1,3-megapixel camera with tenfold digital enlargement system has a secondary 0,3-megapixel camera used in the video-telephony regime. The 2-inch display supports enlargement of up to 176 x 220 pixels and screens 262144 pixels. S81 is equipped with 30 MB of built-in memory, a slot for microSD flash cards (the maximal capacity of 1 GB carriers) and Bluetooth wireless communication controller. Built-in software includes a media player (supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, AMR and WMA formats), graphics editor, organizer, post client etc.

First of all BenQ-Siemens EF51 cellular phone will interest music lovers. The phone is equipped with FM-tuner and allows reproduce MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+ files. It supports recording of radio programs and screens the text of a listened composition. In addition, the screen has a 1,6-inch diagonal, resolution of up to 128 x 128 pixels and screens over 262 thousand pixels. The special function Speech-to-Music allows choosing a desired song by means of voice commands. The phone is equipped with the 1,3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth controller, miniSD slot and USB port to join a computer.

And the last new model is BenQ-Siemens EF91, which supports HSDPA technology (is also known as 3.5G) and embodies further development of 3G cellular communication standards. Users of HSDPA services will be able to hold real-time video-conferences and download large data volumes from Internet. Other features of this phone include a 3,2-megapixel camera, a 2-inch display with resolution of up to 240 x 320 pixels (262144 pixels), a Bluetooth controller, a slot for microSD flash memory cards and a media player, which can reproduce video-clips and MP3 music files.

From the very beginning BenQ Corporation (which was previously Siemens Mobile) has been arranging various activities and implementing social and cultural projects to support young and talented people. The third contest of young singers was held this year. The contest was arranged on a more professional level and opened the alternative for the finalists to the professional stage. Sing your song project was first presented in Germany 4 years ago. Then Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy and Azerbaijan took the baton, at that Azerbaijan became the fourth country that accrued the right to carry out this festival. This contest gives a chance to young singers to sing a smash hit representing their country on the top level. This year the Company plans to arrange the fourth contest among young singers.

BenQ became a general sponsor of "Mashin", the first reality-show in Azerbaijan. The Company also takes part in a number of other social and cultural projects.
