PROMOTERS OF AZERBAIJAN CULTURE
Baku was always known for its architects and builders. Now, like many years ago, there are many large-scale construction programmes such as erection of multi-storeyed buildings and comfortable cottages in the capital of Azerbaijan. New roads along with bridges and road interchanges are being constructed now. All these projects are conducted by construction companies. Caspian Service is one of the companies involved in this construction activity.
We kindly requested Chairman of the Board of Caspian Services Ragim Aladdin oglu Sultanov to answer some questions.
Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Sultanov, how was Caspian Service founded? What principles do you follow in your business activity? What architectural style do you prefer?
Rahim Sultanov: The history of our Company started in 2001. During the period of six-year activity we became one of the most developing construction organizations in the construction market of Azerbaijan. The residence building erected at Bulbul Avenue, opposite Nizami Cinema, is our first work. The successfully implemented project made us sure we are following the right way. The structure created by us represents a team of associates committed to objectives and goals of Caspian Service.
During the period of its activity the Company has created the image of a stable organization that conducts business in strict accordance with such criteria as reliability, modern quality standards, responsibility before the society and customers.
While speaking of architecture, Roman architect and engineer Marc Vitruve Pollion (70-20 B.C., the note from editors) formulated the following three core criteria: "Benefit, solidity and beauty". These postulates that passed through centuries are up-to-date even nowadays. A modern building should be spacious, warm and comfortable. It should have "a soul", individuality.
The view of the city has changed much within the last years. There are new apartment houses of individual design, public buildings erected by the order of private customers. New buildings of a unique design draw eyes, astonish and amaze.
During the operation in the construction market the architects of Caspian Service have created their own style and signature while projecting and constructing buildings. We have studied the history of development of the dwelling architecture of Baku City and tried to bring out its specific features that are urgent nowadays in contemporary architecture.
Caspian Service constructs buildings mainly in the central part of the Azerbaijan capital where there are many houses regarded as landmarks, which were erected during a certain period of the city development. While designing projects in this part of the city the architects of the Company take into consideration its architectural view and background. Most of buildings projected by the team of architects and designers headed by Faig Yuzbashev, the eminent architect of Azerbaijan, embody a number of artistic features recreating the elements of the national-romantic direction of Azerbaijan and classic architecture.
Due to the apt architectural solution our buildings of unique design harmonize with the ancient background.
ΡΕ: What projects does the Company implement in Azerbaijan? What targets do you have now? What projects are you carrying out now?
Rahim Sultanov: Since its very establishment Caspian Service has been constructing over 30 types of residence, office and public use buildings. As I stated above, these are residence buildings constructed at Bulbul Avenue, Azerbaijan Avenue (opposite the former Lenin Museum), on the crossroad of S. Vurgun and S. Rakhman streets, the first turn of Komiircu residential area located at Z. Ahmadbayov Street and many others.
This year we are going to put into operation the apartment houses located on the crossroad of B. Sardarov and Rostropovichey Streets, at D. Aliyeva Street (nearby the Ministry of Healthcare), at Vagif Avenue, at S. Rakhman Street, the ‘XXI century' private school located at Inshaatchylar Avenue, the office building near Elmlar Akademiyasy metro station, etc.
Since 2004 Caspian Service has entered a new stage of its development where the programme of social-economic development of Azerbaijani regions is the core direction. By the third anniversary of this programme we are going to complete construction of Khan Evi architectural residential building in Ganja. There we are starting to build multi-storeyed buildings at Khatai Avenue, and multi-storeyed residential buildings in Goychay and Naftalan. As you understand, these are new job openings, improvement of social conditions of citizens living in the regions of Azerbaijan.
The year of 2004 has turned to be a very important milestone as the Company entered the foreign market. Caspian Service has been the first Azerbaijan company that offered construction services to the Kazakh market.
At the moment we are completing the construction of Caspian Palace many-functional residential premises located near the Presidential Palace (Astana, Kazakhstan). We have signed the document approving a municipal 150-flat accommodation unit in Aktau City Port. We have begun construction of Khazar Palace elite residential complex in the coastal area of the sea gates of Kazakhstan. We are approaching the day when inhabitants of Karaganda, the large industrial city of Kazakhstan, will see rising floors of multi-storeyed buildings, whereas citizens of Russian Stavropol City will have a multi-storeyed residential area in the central part of the regional capital.
As you see, Caspian Service is moving ahead. We are consistent about entering new levels of business cooperation. Due to a strong motivation our Company presses ahead to reach the set targets.
We are implementing the final stage of projects in Georgia, Ukraine, Hungary, and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan we offered the project of a large multi-storeyed residential, office and trade complex. Our offer was welcomed by the government of the country. You will probably say that Ragim Sultanov tells too much about projects in CIS countries and abroad and said nothing about projects carried out in our region. We certainly continue contributing to the development of regions in Azerbaijan. Thus, our architects complete designing projects of a hotel to be erected as a medieval castle in Hadjikand nearby Ganja City, a health center in Naftalan resort area, a residential building in Gazakh along with other projects, which are being kept in secret so far.
I would like to mention one more direction of our activity. Caspian Service has implemented a project promoted by the International BakuBuild Construction Exhibition held with participation of our Company. In the course of BakuBuild-2005 numerous visitors visited the stand of Caspian Service. We were pleased to note the interest of students from the Architecture & Construction University that vividly discussed the displayed models of houses and asked many serious professional questions. We enjoyed much to see such good successors. Last summer we received a letter from the administration of this University that requested to receive a group of students to pass practical training. We agreed to fulfill this request. I guess this is a good example for our colleagues.
ΡΕ: What are distinctive features of your projects? What attracts the customers to the projects of Caspian Service?
Rahim Sultanov: What flat would you like to have? Each person asks this question at least once in his life. The response is predictable. The flat you can enjoy! A flat is not only walls and furniture. It also reveals a lifestyle of its owner, shows his interests, taste, and the level of culture. Contemporary premises, as I have already stated above, should be spacious, warm and comfortable. We try to take into consideration all the above-stated points in our projects. At the same time architects and designers lay an appropriate infrastructure in most of constructed buildings: underground auto-parking, sport and playgrounds, trade and social objects. But you should address this question to both owners and buyers of flats in our houses.
In conclusion of our conversation I would like to draw the attention of the readers to the following. Dear readers can see that the geography of Caspian Service's activity keeps on expanding. We strongly believe that if a small area embodying the elements of Azerbaijan national architecture appears in some city of this or that country, it means our projects achieve the main goal as there will be architectural buildings representing the Azerbaijan culture.
