Since November 2000, Caspian Wireline Services LTD, CWS, has been providing wireline logging and perforating services to oil production companies in Azerbaijan. CWS specializes in providing high quality cost effective services in the Caspian Sea region. Through support from suppliers around the world, CWS is currently providing a wide range of services and working with clients to identify additional techniques to help increase production and reduce operating costs.

Karasu Operating Company, CWS's primary customer, is currently drilling infield wells in the Mishovdag field to enhance the waterflood program and increase oil production. The new wells are being evaluated using Drilling Data Logging, Open Hole Logging and the Pulsed Neutron-Neutron Log (PNN). The Pulsed Neutron-Neutron has proven to be a very useful tool in monitoring the effects of the water flood in the producing wells.

In June, 2004, CWS began offering Pulsed Neutron-Neutron, PNN, logging for Karasu beginning with a three well test to determine if this tool would be able to differentiate oil and water in the Mishovdag field. In the first well, Mis-688, several zones were identified in Horizons II-IV as oil bearing and later perforated to increase the production in this well from 9 BOPD to 150 BOPD. The second well, Mis-573, was logged with the PNN and it clearly showed an interval that was being water flooded but one of the sands had a much higher oil saturation than the surrounding sands. A cement squeeze was performed on Mis-573 and the oil production increased from 7 BOPD to 98 BOPD. A third well, Mis-435, was logged with the PNN and several oil bearing sands were identified in Horizons I-IV. The new zones were perforated and production was increased from 18 BOPD to 250 BOPD in Mis-435. Therefore, the Development Managers have gained confidence in the measurements provided by the PNN and have utilized this tool extensively. In 2005, Caspian Wireline Services LTD added Well Testing Services to include a 15 kpsi choke manifold with fixed and variable chokes, a 1440 psi 3 phase separator capable of flowing 3000 BOPD, 3000 BOWPD, and 30 MMCF gas through a 45 foot flare stack. CWS provides electronic memory recorders to measure tubing pressure/temperature, casing pressure/temperature, gas flow rate, oil flow rate, water flow rate, and separator operating pressure/temperature.

Downhole memory gauges ranging from 15 kpsi, 10 kpsi, and 6 kpsi are available with over 1 million data point storage capacity. Surface readout quartz gauges along with production logging services are available as well. CWS provides slickline services to enable setting standing valves for pressure testing tubing, instrument hangers for hanging gauges, blanking plugs for isolating zones, and shifting tools for opening and closing sliding sleeves.
