Azerfon, a new GSM operator functioning under Nar Mobile brand, started its commercial activity on March 21, 2007. This event can be regarded as one of the important events in the telecommunication field of Azerbaijan. The commenced activity of the third operator in the country has enhanced competitiveness in the telecommunication market and improved the quality of rendered services. Azerfon has entered the market under the ‘Nar Mobile' brand. Why namely Nar? Nar (pomegranate) having a special status in Azerbaijan brings positive feelings and reflects rich cultural heritage. At the first press-conference held on March 20, 2007 in Hyatt Regency Hotel John Armley, Azerfon's General Director announced the startup of the new company's activity. Within this short period we created the company, a contemporary network and a number of state-of-the-art competitive unique services. Now we have a great honour to offer various competitive tariff plans designed to provide maximum comfort for our clients. Along with accuracy and transparency our tariff plans give the opportunity to use the unified payment system".
When speaking Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov called the activity of the third operator offering high-quality service to people as a preferable one. It is the first time when a new operator entering the telecommunication market has concluded an annual roaming contract with another operator, Bakcell, so as to create a healthy competition.
Taking into consideration interests of subscribers, Nar Mobile will provide cellular communication users with service packages to ensure choice and comfort, like the Free Management System. Subscribers that use this service can add or remove service, change tariff plans, get a monthly report about calls, to choose favourite numbers without applying to the Customer Service Centers. Subscribers may use the Free Management System through Nar Menu installed in the telephone by calling to 777 number or visiting www.NarMobile.az.
One more innovation offered to Nar Mobile subscribers is payment for calls in the national currency. It will ensure transparency of all prices and charges. Nar Cards cost 2, 5, 10, 20 or 50 AZN and can be used for all Tariff Plans. For subscribers willing to communicate with relatives or friends Nar Mobile offers the right to install two Favourite Numbers. All calls to these numbers are two times cheaper. To provide more convenience to the client, Favourite Numbers can be installed directly from a mobile phone through Nar Menu. At nighttime, on days off or holidays Nar Mobile offers 50 % discounts for all calls in all directions.
Another advantage of the Nar Mobile's network is the opportunity to use main roaming without prepayment. There is no need to fill balance for using roaming service as it is enough to have balance required for one call. It enables all Nar Mobile subscribers to use roaming.
To date Nar Mobile has roaming contracts signed with more than 300 GSM operators.
Azerfon Company will not use the contour system exercised by other operators. The cost of calls will depend upon the number of minutes talked.
Nar Mobile continues taking care of interests and convenience of its subscribers. Tariff Plans have been designed and currently operates according to these principles. The Tariff Plans we offer are more efficient and competitive compared to other tariffs available in the market. Each Nar Mobile subscriber has the right to choose more acceptable Tariff Plan.
At the first stage of the commercial activity the Company offers three Tariff Plans. These are ‘Colourful Tastes' package with two tariff regimes and ‘Towards the Goal' package. The cost of intercity calls in the Tariff Plans is 0.075 AZN, while calls to other networks start from 0.22 AZN. When a subscriber defines the most frequently used directions of calls he can select a suitable Tariff Plan. Lots of privileges and benefits are available to meet requests of subscribers.

At the initial stage of the commercial activity Nar Mobile Centers will operate in Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan. In future the number of such centers will grow both in the capital and regions.
