TERO KIVIASARI APPOINTED NEW HEAD OF TELIASONERA EURASIA BUSINESS AREAÒÈß
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), TeliaSonera Eurasia, Tero Kivisaari assumed his office as President of TeliaSonera Eurasia as of May 1, 2007. Kivisaari, 35, holds double diplomas from Helsinki University of Technology and Helsinki School of Economics. He has been with TeliaSonera for ten years.
Tero Kivisaari replaced Erdal Durukan who resigned on May 1, 2007.
"After 13 years of developing telecoms in Turkey, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, with Turkcell and Fintur, it was a natural step to make this decision. The years with TeliaSonera have been very prosperous - the whole region is going through an expansive and exciting period - and Business Area Eurasia constitutes today approximately one third of TeliaSoneras net result", says Erdal Durukan.

TeliaSonera Eurasia business area comprises the Fintur (74%) operations in Kazakhstan (Kcell), Azerbaijan (Azercell), Georgia (Geocell) and Moldova (Moldcell). The business area is also responsible for developing TeliaSonera's shareholdings in Russian MegaFon (44%) and Turkish Turkcell (37%).
The business area was headed by Erdal Durukan, President of TeliaSonera Eurasia until May 1, 2007.
Being Honorary Consul of Swedish Kingdom to Azerbaijan since 1998, Mr. Durukan created Azercell Telecom JV, the first in Azerbaijan GSM mobile communication operator, and was its General Director over a long period. While working in Azerbaijan, Mr. Durukan has contributed not only to development of economy, but also education, health and culture fields of our country.
From beginning of its activity Azercell Telekom JV is pursuing its main objective of high quality service and transparent activity, implementation of innovations of communications technology and care for every subscriber.
The company has had a great role in Azerbaijan telecommunications' foremost position in the region, and number of the subscribers of Azercell Telecom JV, reached 2,500,000. It's a very pleasant and important event because this figure demonstrates not only quantity, but also quality.
This is a clear proof of trust by large part of the mobile communication users to Azercell Telecom JV. The number of subscribers of the mobile communications leader got over 2,000,000 last August. In May 2004 there were 1,000,000 mobile operators. Thus, Azercell grow up 2,5 times within less than 3 years. Not resting on laurels, Azercell Telecom JV, the mobile communication leader of Azerbaijan is continuing to increase number of the Customer Care Offices throughout the country to provide a high standard face-to-face service to its subscribers.
This time the company opened its next regional Customer Care Office in Ali-Bayramli. The new service office is located in Heydar Aliyev Avenue 8a. Along with Ali-Bayramli, the office provides service for people of Hajigabul, Salyan and Neftchala regions as well. The office has been provided with modern facilities and maximum comfortable conditions to ensure high standard services for subscribers.
The payment point of the office is at the Bank Republic. The office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., and on Satuday from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m..
Along with 10 Customer Care Centers, some 11 Azercell Express offices provide service for Azercell Telecom subscribers in Baku and different regions of the country.
