PREPARING FOR NEW INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

 

Introduction

Caspian Pipe Coatings (CPC) LLC (formerly named as EUPEC PipeCoatings Azerbaijan) was established in Azerbaijan in 2002, and during 5 years has been producing Anti-corrosion coating (CC) and concrete weight coating (CWC) for offshore and onshore pipelines used in oil, gas and water development projects in line with the international standards. 

 

Location and logistics

CPC is based in the industrial area of Baku on the shore of the Caspian Sea with convenient infrastructure for sea, rail and land transports. The area covers approximately 250,000 m2 in total including a railway connection with capacity of up to 45 wagons and also a jetty that allow for effective and safe load-in and load-out operations. The area of the company also provides also temporary storage of bare and coated pipes.

           

Coating facility

At the present time the company has launched one of the most modern coating facilities in the world. СРС offers Fusion Bonded Epoxy, 3-layer Polyolefin (Polyethylene and Polypropylene), de-scaling, internal Flow Coat and Concrete Weight Coating. The company also offers Custom Coatings for small diameter pipes, bends and risers utilized in offshore and onshore pipeline industries, as well as field joint installation and cathodic protection with the strategic partner EUPEC France.

CPC considers safe pipe handling operations one of the key goals to succeed. Therefore, the company has purchased  pipe lifting equipment / cranes especially equipped to facilitate unmanned lifting operations with bare and coated pipes. Thus all pipe handling  operations in the area with anti-corrosion-coated pipes are done with cranes equipped with vacuum lifters, while all operations for handling of concrete coated pipes with hydraulic spreader bars.

 

With around 2.5 million lifts per annum CPC is considered to be the company with the largest number of lifting operations in Azerbaijan. This result is achieved due to availability of the most sophisticated, modern, reliable and safest lifting equipment.

 

Projects

CPC has successfully coated over 1400 km. onshore and offshore pipelines under various projects so far. During project implementation the company always cooperated with the prestigious companies like Azerbaijan International Operations Company (AIOC), State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), British Petroleum (BP) and MacDermott Corporations Inc (MCCI).    

 First half of 2007, СРС accomplished coating of 14 inch pipes up to 190 km. for AIOC Produce Water Pipeline (PWP) Project, part of ACG Project. 

Today CPC has launched a new SOCAR Project "Bahar - Neft Dashlary" (Bahar - Oil Rocks), the implementation period of which, is supposed to cover approximately three months. Within the intended timeframe of project implementation CPC will apply 56 mm concrete coating on 20 inch pipes with total length of about 68 km.

 

Perspectives

Today СPС is the only company throughout the Caspian Region capable to render such a wide range of pipe coating services. Therefore the company seeks for potential clients not only in oil, gas, and water industries of Azerbaijan, but also intends to cooperate with the above-listed sectors of other Caspian countries, in particular, with Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
