Azerbaijani President was visiting Moscow within the framework of CIS Informal summit (February 22).

KAZAKHSTAN GOING TO PRODUCE 114BCM OF GAS BY 2020

 

Apart from oil production, Kazakhstan intends to ramp up gas production as well. Kazakhstan’s long-range plans suggest ramping up gas production from 29.6bcm (2007) to 114bcm in 2020. At the same time, RoK, supported by the European Commission, is handling related environmental programs.

GAS OPEC: COMING IN JUNE

 

RUSSIA AND IRAN DOMINATE IN GAS MARKET

 

Russia and Iran do not seem to abandon the idea on building the gas OPEC. Even more, Oil Minister of Iran Golamhossein Nozari said it is time that world’s top gas producers and gas reserves holding countries come to agreement, for which the ground is ready. Final agreements are to be signed shortly, most likely during the 7th forum of 14 largest gas producing countries that will take place this June in Moscow.

 

 

NABUCCO AND SOUTH STREAM – A CLOSE PITCH

 

During the visit of First Deputy Prime-Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to Serbia (February 25) Gazprom and Serbijagas signed the agreement on installing Serbian section of the South Stream gas pipeline. The same day Russia and Hungary agreed to lay Hungarian section of the same pipeline. However, the Hungarians are also going to take part in Nabucco project to draw Central Asian gas to Europe.

 

 

RUSSIA-UKRAINE: PENDING SOLUTIONS

 

The last week was remembered for gas talks between Russia and Ukraine: PM Yulia Timoshenko talked to her Russian peer Victor Zubkov and President Vladimir Putin, next day she spent almost five hours at Gazprom.
