AZERBAIJAN INTEGRATES IN THE EU ENERGY SPACE IN THE FIELD OF RENEWABLE ENERGY
Possible use of the alternative energy sources can stimulate 5-7-percent increase in electrical energy and 10-percent increase in thermal energy generated in Azerbaijan. As the Minister of Industry & Energy of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev stated at the UN Commission symposium on energy supplies consequential development, industry development, environment pollution and climate change held in Baku on March 28, the Caspian region and Azerbaijan in particular are rich with oil and gas resources and have huge economic and industrial potential. These countries will play an important role in the development of the world economy in XXI century and will be major suppliers of the European market in terms of alternative energy resources.
It is worth to remind that at the threshold of G8 Summit and discussion of a new energy strategy, i.e. Green Paper, the Chairman of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barrozu made recommendations to EU countries. According to the recommendations, the EU members should meet up to half of their needs owing to renewable energy sources within the next twenty years.

The world policy has focused its attention on the Caspian hydrocarbon resources since the moment the Baku fields were discovered. Collapse of the Soviet Union and declaration of independence in the post soviet republic resulted in appearing of new players at the global energy market. Kazakhstan represented by its national company KazMunayGaz JSC is one of the most active among them. The company steadily follows the policy aimed at development of stable partnership relations with neighboring petroleum countries being a strategic partner of Azerbaijan within the pipeline project Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and other initiatives. We talked to Uzakbay Karabalin, the President of KazMunayGaz about the results of 2005 and outlooks related to the development of the company.
