    The construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline named after Heydar Aliyev is approaching its completion, the first tanker with 450 thousand barrels of Azeri Light brand oil is scheduled to sail away in June 2006. However, already now the partners within the project are worried about the rise in the project’s cost. The reasons are various – from temporary costs and weather conditions to global inflation processes.

    Gazprom, the Russian gas monopolist continues its expansion at the European market. After the “shock therapy” for the European consumers the largest European companies search for gas projects to be implemented jointly with Gazprom. During the previous week the President of Gazprom and administration of Gas de France and BASF discussed opportunity of joint implementation of projects on gas production.

    Besides, the Company carried on the similar negotiations with various European structures and as a result of registration of its depositary receipts in the USA turned to be Company ¹1 on capitalization in the world. This influenced the cost of the North European Gas Pipeline’s construction, which grew almost twice.
