HOW TO BYPASS BLACK SEA STRAITS: CHEVRON VIEWS THE OPPORTUNITY TO USE BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN SYSTEM
“The vitally important and strategic task on creation of a multi-sided differentiated export pipeline system will be solved this year,” the Minister of Industry & Energy of Azerbaijan, Natig Aliyev said during the large investment forum in Paris.
Global energy security problems are in the forefront at the threshold of G8 Summit to be held in Saint Petersburg. Companies-exporters and countries- importers of energy resources make attempts to maneuver. France calls upon to ramp up oil and gas production. Azerbaijan with its significant recoverable reserves totally comprising around 4 billion tons in oil equivalent plays a very important role in the Caspian region.
But American Company Chevron considers necessary to construct several oil pipelines bypassing Black Sea Straits Bosporus and Dardanelles. Kazakh Oil Producing Company Tengizchevroil has already concluded the contract about restart of oil exportation by Ukrainian company Ukrzaliznitsa through Ukrainian ports and is going to export 1 million tons of oil a year.
ISRAEL READY TO DRAW A PART OF EUROPEAN GAS MARKET
The idea to expand the gas pipeline was expressed by the Minster of National Infrastructure of Israel, Benjamin Ben-Eliezer during the press conference in Baku. “Our Government wants to interest Azerbaijan and Turkey to continue the gas pipeline from Erzurum to Ceyhan and we will buy as much gas as Azerbaijan is ready to offer. I have discussed this matter with the Prime Minster of Turkey and we are going to continue the talks,” Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said.

“TURKEY IS READY TO PURCHASE GAS FROM AZERBAIJAN NO LATER THAN IN THE END OF THIS YEAR,” SALIH PASHAOGLU SAID
“Azerbaijan gas can be also exported via the Nabucco project. When the volumes are expanded, Azerbaijan gas can be transported to Southern and Central Europe. I think that Turkey being one of the initiators of the Nabucco project (the gas pipeline from Turkey to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and from there to Southern Europe, Italy and Austria) will be glad if Azerbaijani gas is transported via this gas pipeline,” Salih Pashaoglu, the Deputy Minister of Energy & Natural Resources of Turkey told in the exclusive interview to Caspian Energy Investor.
“IRAN IS OPEN FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENTS,” M. HAGANI SAID
“I believe that despite the current situation, Iran will receive additional investments as our country greets such kind of investments, especially in the Caspian region. OPEC CUTS DOWN RAW MATERIALS PRODUCTION
U. CHAVES: REAL COST OF OIL BARREL IS 50 USD
After the OPEC session held in Caracas Venezuela turned to be the only country that cut down its oil production. As for other OPEC countries, they think to reduce quotas is unnecessary. Prices on energy resources stably grow. Experts think, if the situation in Iran develops positively, quotas can go down to 10 USD per barrel within the next two months and grow by 10 USD more if the situation becomes tenser.
