The ceremony dedicated to awarding of the highest international elite platinum prize “Caspian Energy Integration Award-2006” in a special nomination “Reformer of the year in the countries of the Caspian-Black Sea region” to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan was held by the Caspian Integration Business Club (CIBC) on August 8 at the Hilton Hotel in Ankara, the Organization Committee of Caspian Energy Integration Award-2006 told CIBCNews.
GAS IN EXCHANGE FOR MEMBERSHIP IN EURASEC
The scheduled informal summit of EurAsEC countries-members (August 16-17, Sochi) was held to settle a number of issues related to creation of a single economic space of EurAsEC and a Customs Union. Simultaneously Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Russia Victor Yanukovich and Michael Fradkov discussed the “gas” issue in Sochi. It turned out that Russia was ready to make a concession in the issue regarding the price on gas delivered to Ukraine but… as Michael Fradkov stated “Russia offers Ukraine to mediate upon the opportunity to become a full-fledged member of EurAsEC and the Customs Union.”

The governmental crisis in Ukraine that occurred immediately after the orange revolution seems to be over. Since the first days on the post a new Premier understanding necessity or non-alternativeness of economic relations with Russia has followed the policy aimed at closing the positions with the eastern neighbor.

The annual scope of oil production in Azerbaijan in 2008 will exceed 50 million tons. Only in 2006 the production is scheduled to comprise 30.5 million tons and 47 million tons of oil in 2007. Plans to export Kazakh oil through this corridor will contribute to expansion of the throughput capacity of the Heydar Aliyev Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

OPEC AND EIA REDUCE FORECAST ON GLOBAL OIL CONSUMPTION GROWTH
OPEC has reduced its own forecast on global oil consumption growth for 2006 and 2007. Thus, in comparison with 2005 in 2006 global oil consumption will go up by 1.3 million barrels a day instead of earlier forecasted 1.38 million barrels a day and comprise 84.5 million barrels a day.
