    AZERBAIJAN IS GOING TO BE A STRATEGIC ENERGY PARTNER OF EU

    Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) continue working on the basic bilateral document – the Memorandum about mutual understanding on strategic energy partnership. The sides are expected to coordinate all provisions of the document and during the visit to be paid by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Brussels in October the role of a strategic partner will be officially assigned to Azerbaijanè.

  • EXPORT POTENTIAL OF AZERBAIJAN NOTICEABLY EXPANDS


    SOCAR INTENDS TO EXPORT OIL FROM OTHER FIELDS THROUGH BTC

    Azerbaijan keeps on exporting oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields through the Heydar Aliyev Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. SOCAR has already announced the marketing survey to sell the second consignment of profit oil within the Contract of the Century. At the same time SOCAR carries on negotiations with BTC Co. to settle the issue regarding transportation of its oil from other fields through the given pipeline as well as European and Israeli oil refineries so as to establish direct oil supplies. In 2007 SOCAR also plans to start direct exchange sales of Azerbaijan oil.

    Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey are going to totally gain from the pipeline’s operation $2 billion 104 million as income tax up to 2027.

To provide guaranteed oil supplies for the national economy in the long-term outlook is the core target of the Korean side in implementation of the projects mentioned by me,” the Chief of the Overseas Affairs Department of the Korean National Oil Corporation (KNOC), Kim Yong Wu said in the exclusive interview to Caspian Energy Investor .

    Kazakhstan keeps on developing its gas export strategy. Now China is viewed as a potential importer. Already in 2007 Kazakhstan is going to complete working out the justification of investments in the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline project. At the same time Kazakhstan carries out the active work aimed at development of the Caspian resources. Overall Kazakh extracting companies are going to ramp up hydrocarbons production in Kazakhstan by the end of the current year and view various variants regarding transportation of their energy resources.

    GAZEXPORT WILL HAVE TO PAY TO THE COMPANY-OPERATOR FOR TRANSPORTATION EVEN IF IT DOES NOT FIND A BUYER

    Gazprom JSC and two German concerns ÂÀSF and Å.ÎN have signed the final agreement on construction of the offshore section of the North European Gas Pipeline (NEGP). However, details about financing of the ambitious export project of Gazprom – the North European Gas Pipeline (NEGP) became known shortly after the signing. Actually Gazprom will be able to finance its share at the expense of both ready cash and property and gets the option to redeem the share of foreign partners – Wintershall and E.ON Ruhrgas in case of force-majeure.

    The trilateral negotiations dedicated to construction of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline were held in Athens (September 4) between the leaders of Russia, Bulgaria and Greece. Vladimir Putin, Constantine Karamanlis and Georgi Pyrvanov once more decided to hasten implementation of the project.
