HEYDAR ALIYEV BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN PIPELINE ANTICIPATED PRACTICAL RESULTS OF G8 SUMMIT HELD IN SAINT PETERSBURG
The 20th of September, the Oilmen’s Day of Azerbaijan is the date of signing the international Contract of the Century, which in 1994 laid the foundation of a new era of interrelations at the world energy market. And again Azerbaijan proved its leadership in this virtually important area like after onshore discovery of the first oil in the world at the first well of Bibi-Heybat and offshore first oil production in 1949. The Heydar Aliyev Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan transport energy corridor, which turned to be the first pipeline constructed at the territory of the former USSR, and enabled to diversify global export flows and opened the resources of the Caspian countries to the world market. The pipeline was started up on July 13 and became a continuation of this trend.
Within the next few years the Caspian energy resources will supplement quite weighty, if to follow the modest calculations, already formed flows from the Near Eastern countries and Russia.
