  • ENERGY STABILITY FACTOR OF THE EURASIAN SUBCONTINENT

16.8 BILLION USD TO BE INVESTED IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE KAZAKH SECTOR OF THE CASPIAN SEA IN 2011-2015

To date Kazakhstan holds the 6-7th position in the world on oil and gas reserves and the 2nd position on uranium reserves, which are viewed as strategic raw materials today, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev told on September 13 in the Akorda presidential palace. The President thinks “within the next 8-10 years Kazakhstan is going to produce 3.5 million barrels of oil a year. Out of this amount 3 million will be delivered to the world market. Gas will comprise 6-80 billion m3. Therefore, Kazakhstan is turning into a factor of energy security in Asia and Europe”.

Nursultan Nazarbayev considers the issue regarding transportation of Kazakh oil to the world markets to be very important as well. “As you know the capacity of the North Caspian Pipeline is going to be raised from 25 to 60 million tons a year. Commissioning of the Atasu-Alashankou oil pipeline with the throughput capacity of 20 million tons of oil a year, Kazakhstan’s joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project, which is destined to pump up to 10 million tons of oil with gradual expansion up to 25 million prove the efficient work aimed at development of new export routes,” the President said. Thus, “we are the factor of energy stability of the Eurasian subcontinent,” Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed.

The international rating, which was awarded to Kazakhstan by Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors international rating agencies, proves improvement of the investment climate in the country. Today Kazakhstan is an attractive country for not only biggest oil and gas companies but also for financial institutions and international financial organizations.

  • SWEDISH STRATEGY

Whereas entire Europe searches for all possible ways to import energy resources to the continent and opportunities to use alternative energy sources, Sweden is going to refuse form oil and gas. “Energy woods” are already grown in Swedish Saver village. This is a Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta) to be used first of all for biofuel production. The quantity of timber produced from the Lodgepole Pine is 40% higher than that from a usual European Pine, it is less subjected to deceases and the citrus aroma makes it unattractive for elks that destroy large wood areas. There are thousands of pots with pine plantlets producing unusual citrus aroma in huge greenhouses.
