  • PRICE OF RUSSIAN GAS INCREASED TWO-FOLD


    AZERBAIJAN DOES NOT EXPECT EASY NEGOTIATIONS

    The first announcements about supplies of the Russian gas to CIS and Baltic nations on average European prices are being reported since summer. According to the Chairman of Gazprom Board Aleksey Miller, the supplies to the former USSR countries provide company with the place in the market, yet in a minimal profitability. Aleksey Miller also stated that starting next year Gazprom is going to "provide higher level of prices and shift into purely market mechanisms in transactions excluding barter and reporting outlines". These changes have already concerned a number of countries and increase for gas price is expected to involve Azerbaijan too. The latter plans to become an new gas exporter starting 2006.
