The Year of Russia in Azerbaijan is proceeding to completion. Within the last two years the bipartite relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were rapidly developing in the political, economic and humanitarian aspects. The Heads of two historically close sovereign states Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin announced the 2005 year the Year of Azerbaijan in Russia and the 2006 the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan.

After Russia-EU Summit, which took place in Helsinki last Friday, it became clear that sides would not agree about the new agreement on cooperation and partnership. On the whole, Europe does not refuse from the deliveries of Russian gas and it will be difficult to Russia to redirect its export to the East quickly. There is no consensus on this issue and alternative providers can act widely.

It is planned to create the Kazakhstan Caspian Transportation System to transport Kazakhstan oil via the Aktau-Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline by 2010. As vice President of “KazMunayGaz” JSC and Director of the Representation to the West region Makhambet Batirbayev declared at the First Caspian Investment Forum the cost of the project was about 1 .6 billion USD.

OPEC: $50-60 - REASONABLE OIL PRICE
