EXCLUSIVE

«TRANS-CASPIAN IS SEEN AS ANOTHER ROUTE FOR SUPPORT» - ANGUS MILLER

«In my mind there is only 10% of the amount of gas that Europe imports to be taken into the heart of Europe, the Central Europe, and that’s where the market will be mainly. So for Britain we will still rely on LNG imports from Algeria, Nigeria and other sources. And also, we have our own gas production. So for Britain, we are actually a net gas exporter. It will change but we still produce our own gas. And so in the long run we will become an importer and may be of Central Asian gas», said Angus Miller, Caspian Energy Adviser, Climate Change and Energy Group, UK Foreign Office, in his exclusive interview with Caspian Energy Investor.

GAS OPEC: TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

The ongoing reforms in the EU energy market make major global gas producers again view the idea of establishing a gas OPEC. Russia and Iran have started a big geopolitical game aimed at setting up a new gas alliance. The process originated when Russia and Algeria failed to have reached unanimity of views as regards a common policy in the global gas market.
