  • REDISTRIBUTION OF TURKISH SHARE CONTINUED

    The commercial gas production was launched after the start-up of the first well on the Shah Deniz gas condensate field located in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea This opened the new stage in the history of oil & gas industry of Azerbaijan. On December 15 the partners to Shah Deniz PSA announced the start-up of commercial production from the field and commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. Thus, if historically Azerbaijan was famous as a petroleum country, henceforth, it is going to become a world-class gas exporter.
    At the same time Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey carry on talks about redistribution of the Turkish share of gas in the project for 2007. Core issues concern the volumes of supplies and the gas price.

  • OPEC does its best to avoid further decrease in oil prices. Last week the cartel took a decision to cut oil production by 500,000 bbl a day from February 1.
