STATISTICS OF OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION IN THE CASPIAN REGION

In 2001 it is planned to produce 15.1 mln tons of oil in Azerbaijan, 9 mln out of which will be produced by SOCAR and 6.1 mln - by AIOC. As to gas production, according to the forecasts about 6.2bn cub. m of gas will be produced in the republic: SOCAR's share is estimated at 5.1bn cub. m, Chirag will produce 1.1bn cub. m of gas.

Exploration in the Azeri section of the Caspian Sea has found 28 oil and gas fields. At present 18 of those are under development. The fields differ from each other in a number of criteria such as start up of the development, reserves utilisation, reservoir pressure, water flaoding factor, daily oil production rate, annual oil production history as well as well stock and their technical conditions. Majority of the fields under development are characterized by complex geological structure and high depth of productive horizons. |
