HEYDAR ALIYEV FOUNDATION CONTINUES THE COURSE OF NATIONAL LEADER - THE PRESIDENT OF HEYDAR ALIYEV FOUNDATION, AMBASSADOR OF GOOD WILL OF UNESCO, MRS. MEHRIBAN ALIYEVA

The President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ambassador of Good Will of UNESCO Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva proclaimed as a winner of the International prize of "Caspian Energy Integration Award - 2005" in basic nomination of Public Figure of 2005, according to results of expert's interrogation of the Caspian Integration Business Club carried out within the period from November 1, 2004 to January 15, 2005 among the experts of the highest and middle group of 1200 companies from 30 countries of the world.

The basic nomination (the prize of height) Public Figure of 2005 became objective results of active world, public, social, humanitarian activity, the efforts aimed at development, recognition and popularization of culture, art and further growth of State's authority in the worldwide arena. The stated criteria on result of poll in more than 30 countries of the world (CASPIAN ENERGY journal's readers) became as major for presenting to First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva of the prize on basic nomination "Caspian Energy Integration Award - 2005".

The Prize "Caspian Energy Integration Award - 2005" of Height in symbolically performance of the author's work of sculptor Azad Zeynalov - bronze statuette is embodiment the global sense of provided and spread by the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva through whole the world of civilization's valuable which are peace, property and culture.

There will be presented the certificate of Honorable member of the Caspian Integration Business Club to winner of Height "Caspian Energy Integration Award - 2005".

Aliyeva Mehriban Arif gizi was born in Baku city.

In 1982 graduated secondary school 23 in Baku City with golden medal and entered preventive-treatment faculty of Azerbaijan State Medical Institute named after N.Narimanov.

In 1988 graduated with honorary diploma from the 1st Moscow State Medical Institute named after M.Sechenov.

In 1988-1992 worked at Eye Diseases Scientific-Research Institute in Moscow under leadership of academician Krasnov.

In 1995 on the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva "Friends of Azerbaijani Culture" Charitable Foundation, which is headed by her at present time, was created.

In 1996 Mehriban Aliyeva founded "Azerbaijan - Heritage" magazine, which is published under her edition.

In 2002 Mehriban Aliyeva was elected as the President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. Her beautiful organizer and prestige in international world played important role in adoption of decision of International Gymnastics Federation on realization of 2003 and 2004 World Cup competitions and 2005 World Championship on Calisthenics in Azerbaijan.

Mehriban Aliyeva heads Heydar Aliyev Foundation founded in order to study rich legacy of nationwide leader of Azerbaijan, as well suggest national statehood ideas of Heydar Aliyev to new generations.

Due to her hard efforts in protection and development of Azerbaijan's oral folk literature and music heritage, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded with title of Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO on September 9, 2004.

On December 28, 2004 Mehriban Aliyeva was elected member of Executive Committee of NOC in IV General Assembly of National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Republic.

Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded with title "Woman of Year" according to sociological inquiry held in Azerbaijan in 2005.

In 2005 on results of social poll held among top-managers of 1200 companies from 30 countries of the world became the owner of International Caspian Integration Award in nomination National Leader of Year in the Caspian and Black region.

Married, got two daughters and a son.

Caspian Energy: Mrs. Aliyeva, what are goals and tasks of headed by you Heydar Aliyev Foundation?

The goals of Heydar Aliyev Foundation were fastened by Foundation Charity, and you can introduce with them at web-site of our organization. I would like to note that this is the first of all the rendering of supporting in realization of large-scale programs for studying the heritage of national leader, providing with assistance to project for improving of Azerbaijanis population prosperity, the projects providing with science, education, health, sport development, strengthening of economy potential of the country, upbringing of youth dedicated to national-culture valuable, increasing of international authority of Azerbaijan and so on.

Heydar Aliyev Foundation is quite young organization but it could get the one of main place in national life of the country. Could you please tell us about present work and Foundation's plans for future?

Heydar Aliyev Foundation has already participated in supporting and development of different essentially important for our country projects for a year. The first year of our mission was more difficult and responsible, besides the operation over the projects, the main force and time was paid to organization, regulation of Foundation's mission.

Despite we can result the year of our activity.

The main Foundation's mission was directed for improvement of essential level of population's vulnerable stratums, namely it regards the refugees, forced migrants, children from poor families and children who lives in children's homes and boarding schools.

Thus, there was created the program "Development of children's homes and boarding schools" within the frame of which the monitoring of such kind of institutions' conditions were fulfilled. There were found the problems which children regularly forced. We organized the working visits to all institutes of Baku. According to monitoring results the repair conditions in 10 schools was worst. And first of all the stated 10 schools were completely repaired. We are not going to stop in done. Beside of repairing operations in the other poor schools the Foundation plans the creation of children resource center. Children will be provided with medicine, lawful, psychological assistance and assistance in receiving of professional skills with further placement is important too. Foundation has also fulfilled the projects in the field of health. It is necessary to mention the projects "High care of children, deceased with diabetes" and "For life without thalassemia". Within the frame of the first project we held the conference dedicated to problems of children's diabetes and provided with devices and medicines for children in age till 14 that deceased with diabetes. They are totally more than 3 hundred persons and all of them were healed. At present, the operations on project are continued and our children will receive from Foundation all necessary for health.

Concerning the second project, unfortunately is the one of main difficult tasks of Foundation. Azerbaijan placing in the leading position in the world by a number of deceased with thalassemia and there was registered more than 2.000 deceased. And the professional-technique capabilities of our patient care institutions do not permit us to struggle against the dangerous enemy. At the same time in major countries the cases of sickness with thalassemia reduced to "not". We plan to use the experience of the countries organized the large-scale of prophylactic measures. The problems of deceased with the dangerous sickness will be solved by Heydar Aliyev Foundation within the frame of establishing in Azerbaijan the Center of Thalassemia.

The Foundation fulfills the development of modern technologies of Azerbaijan. Particularly the large project, which under the completion is the creation of information portal "Azerbaijan". The portal that in the nearest time will be submitted to attention of large auditory does not have the analogues on volume and quality of provided information. The leading Azerbaijanis specialists participated in creation of the portal, and the valuable materials and documentary events from many archives, libraries, State institutes were gathered.

I am sure that "Azerbaijan" portal will become the one of the most visited and useful resources of Internet.

We should note some of other important projects of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which are under completion, particularly the construction of water pipe providing the water supply to more than 20.000 of inhabitants of Garadagh region of Baku City, reconstruction of historical monuments and museums, carrying out the many measures for children, refugees, invalids and veterans of war.

I would like to add that we are not going to stop in done and in the second year of activity the volumes of public works fulfilled by Foundation will increase.

Mrs. Aliyeva, as we could understand the Foundation participates almost in all spheres of public life of Azerbaijan. Are there basic and priority directions of Foundation's mission?

It became so, Foundation's special attention was paid to children-orphan, children from unfortunable families and to children who deceased with dangerous sicknesses. The stated high care provided by Foundation regarding the children is the will and testament of Heydar Aliyev. At the same time, Heydar Aliyev Foundation is multi goals public organization. As you see, we have already acted in the sphere of health, science, information, culture, education, etc.

You mentioned about reconstruction of historical monuments fulfilled under supporting of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, could you please to highlight the title in detail?

It is true the development and safety of cultural-historical generation of Azerbaijan is one of our most important tasks. We carefully follow after the processes taking place in the sphere of country's interests and make efforts for solving the appeared problems. I consider the matter of restoration of historical monuments connected with the names of famous sons and daughters of Azerbaijan not only as due to past and restoration of historical justice, but also as an important for upbringing of youth in national-patriotic spirit, development of "Azerbaijanism" idea which ideologist was Heydar Aliyev.

Jomard Gassab who likes the truth, the one of the first Moslem of Azerbaijan received the large respect and honour of contemporaries, the person who has a great entrust and respect of imam Ali. Javad khan who heroically fought for independence of Gandja khanate with the Russian empire - personality, life and whose acts serve as a good example for citizens of our country. High appreciate the role of such figures in the history of country, there was constructed the mausoleum on the grave of Javad khan by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and also in accordance with old projects with using of old period brick, there was fulfilled the restoration of destroyed Jomard Gassab mausoleum. The restorations of these two historical monuments not the single of our projects in the direction. Presently, there is realized the reconstruction of Abdulla Shaig's home museum.

National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev holding the high State posts has always sent the Azerbaijanis representatives (students) for study in abroad. Does Heydar Aliyev Foundation plan the realization of such programs?

Heydar Aliyev foundation continues the course of National Leader and our students' training in abroad and I think that it is very important and necessary process for our country. But it is also important that after receiving of education the talented students are able to use received knowledge in Azerbaijan for the sake of their Native land. Today, some students study in the foreign universities due to assistance of Foundation. We are sure that received knowledge in the leading universities of the world will bring the large benefit for profitability of our country.
